 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Francis Luna of the Garland Independent School
 District was named the 2022 School Nurse of the Year by the Texas
 School Nurses Organization; and
 WHEREAS, Each year, TSNO confers this award to acknowledge
 excellence in the field; in addition to professional
 accomplishments, it celebrates creativity, the ability to actively
 listen, enthusiasm for going the extra mile, and wisdom in knowing
 when to ask for help and how to seek it out; and
 WHEREAS, Francis Luna is employed at Bradfield Elementary
 School in Garland ISD; a registered nurse, she holds a master of
 science in nursing degree and the Nationally Certified School Nurse
 credential, reflecting a high level of education, clinical practice
 experience, and knowledge; and
 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to the well-being of students,
 faculty, and staff, Ms. Luna has implemented innovative programs to
 promote healthy living; she has traveled to Austin to champion
 evidence-based practice guidelines, and she has served the National
 Association of School Nurses as Texas state director; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Luna has gained wide recognition for her
 endeavors; in 2019, she received an Excellence in Nursing Award
 from D Magazine for her activism in behalf of student health; she
 was the only school nurse to garner this accolade; the Garland ISD
 Board of Trustees presented her with its Evidence of Excellence
 Award as well; and
 WHEREAS, Francis Luna has earned the respect and admiration
 of her colleagues and the deep appreciation of the Garland ISD
 community, and she is richly deserving of this prestigious honor;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Francis Luna on her selection as
 the 2022 School Nurse of the Year by the Texas School Nurses
 Organization and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
 success in her important work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Luna as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
