R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Hailey Vargas of Southwest Legacy High School in San
Antonio distinguished herself through her participation in the 2023
Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association State
Championships, held March 18 at the Comerica Center in Frisco; and
WHEREAS, Competing against the other top athletes in the 5A
Division 1 105-pound weight class, Ms. Vargas hoisted 275 pounds in
the squat, 120 in the bench press, and 270 in the deadlift; her
total of 665 pounds earned her a 10th place finish; and
WHEREAS, By earning the right to compete as one of the elite
powerlifters in the Lone Star State, Hailey Vargas has ably
represented her school and community, and she may indeed reflect
with pride on this notable accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Hailey Vargas on her participation
in the 2023 Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association
State Championships and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Vargas as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
