R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Cheryl Fillmore of the West Oso Independent School
District has been selected as an honoree for the 2023 Women in
Education Awards by the Education Service Center Region 2, and she
will be recognized at a banquet on March 29, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Fillmore embarked on her educational career
with West Oso ISD in 1992, and prior to assuming her current
position as athletic director in 2017, she served as a physical
education coach, an AVID teacher, and a counselor; over the course
of her exemplary tenure, she has worked tirelessly to elevate the
district's athletic programs, and she has also encouraged countless
students to strive for athletic excellence while supporting them in
the pursuit of their future educational and career goals; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of West Oso High School, Ms. Fillmore
attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she played
basketball; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl Fillmore has set an outstanding example of
leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is
indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Cheryl Fillmore on her receipt of a
2023 Women in Education Award from the Education Service Center
Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success
in her important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Fillmore as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
