Click here to see the committee vote A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT relating to the manufacture of voting machines by certain foreign persons. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 122.0331, Election Code, is amended by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: (e) A manufacturer of voting systems used in an election may not enter into a contract, or extend or renew a contract, for software development services with: (1) a company or other entity headquartered in China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, or Russia; or (2) an individual who is based in China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, or Russia. SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only to an election ordered on or after the effective date of this Act. SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. * * * * *
