A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the calculation of average daily attendance for
purposes of the public school finance system.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 48.005, Education Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (o) to read as follows:
(o) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, a
school district is entitled to funding for a school year on the
basis of the greater of:
(1) the district's actual average daily attendance for
that school year; or
(2) the average of the district's average daily
attendance for the preceding three school years.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
