A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to medical examinations required for admission to a mental
health facility.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 575, Health and Safety
Code, is amended by adding Section 575.004 to read as follows:
Sec. 575.004. MEDICAL EXAMINATION BEFORE ADMISSION. Any
medical examination or assessment required to be conducted within
24 hours of a person being admitted to a mental health facility
under this subtitle must be conducted in person.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
