The bill would expand Medicaid Fraud Prevention to more broadly include Health Care Program Fraud Prevention. According to the Comptroller of Public Accounts the expanded scope of fraud prevention may increase payment recoveries or penalties collected, however the fiscal impact cannot be determined at this time. According to the Health and Human Services Commission and the Office of the Attorney General, it is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
