The bill would amend the Insurance Code to make annuitants and certain persons with legislative service or employment who are members of the Employees Retirement System (ERS) eligible for health benefit coverage for bariatric surgery. The coverage would be provided through the Group Benefits Program administered by ERS and must provide a plan that is cost-neutral or cost positive. According to ERS, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated from implementing the provisions of the bill. Local Government ImpactNo fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
