R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Proud members of the Winnsboro High School Class of
1973 are celebrating their 50th reunion on October 28, 2023; and
WHEREAS, This milestone event marks half a century since the
seniors of 1973 walked across the stage to receive their diplomas,
and this reunion is a testament to the strong bonds and enduring
friendships that they forged during their formative years at
Winnsboro High; and
WHEREAS, The free-spirited, fun-loving, and independent
nature of the Class of 1973 was apparent early on, from a junior
year chaperone-free party that members hosted at Lake Winnsboro to
their New Orleans senior trip to their selection of the 1972 hit
"Lean on Me" by Bill Withers as their class song; despite their
freewheeling attitude toward most things, the students chose a
traditional class motto, "What lies behind us and what lies before
us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us," and that
sentiment has surely continued to inspire them as they have gone on
to make their marks on their communities, their state, and the world
in the decades since their graduation; and
WHEREAS, The individuals who shared this journey as members
of the Class of 1973 are Michael Altaffer, Diane Armstrong, Jerry
Arrington, Les Paul Beard, Mary Lee Beard, Molly Beth Beene, Mary
Bellomy, Kenneth Bradshaw, Michael Bradshaw, Dennis Breithaupt,
Debra Brewer, Ronald Brown, Johnny Burford, Cathy Callaway, Randy
Cason, Dianna Cejner, Garry Dodd, Thomas Dodgen, David Dossey, Rita
Ellenburg, Steven Ellison, Eddie Fannin, Clyde Folmar, Sandra
Fulmer, John Earl Futral, Ronny Gilbreath, Debra Hayes, Shirley
Haygood, Debra Henry, Darwin Henson, Wade Hoffman, Sue Honeycutt,
Debra Hood, Catherine Hudson, Ross Hunter, Randy Irby, Diane Jones,
Jerry Kennedy, Michael Little, Charlotte Love, Reba Mabry, Michael

Frederick Williams, Lynan Williams, Shirley Foster Wilson, and
Marcus Woodle; and
WHEREAS, As they have gone their respective ways, the men and
women of the Class of 1973 have continued to cherish their memories
of Winnsboro High and all that they learned, accomplished, and
experienced during their time there, and it is indeed fitting to
honor them for their camaraderie and their enduring school spirit;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of the graduation of the
Winnsboro High School Class of 1973 and extend to its members
sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable reunion; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Winnsboro High School Class of 1973 as an
expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
