 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Command Sergeant Major Gerardo Gonzalez is retiring
 from the United States Army on March 1, 2024, concluding a
 distinguished military career that has spanned more than three
 decades; and
 WHEREAS, Gerardo Gonzalez currently serves as the garrison
 command sergeant major at Fort Bliss in El Paso; over the course of
 his enlistment, he has deployed on numerous occasions in support of
 Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New
 Dawn, and various contingency operations worldwide; and
 WHEREAS, CSM Gonzalez joined the U.S. Army in 1992; following
 his completion of basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he was
 assigned to the 355th Medical Company, Army Reserve at Fort Bliss;
 he entered active duty in 1993 and underwent advanced training as a
 scout helicopter repairer at Fort Eustis, Virginia; he went on to
 graduate from the resident sergeants major course, the first
 sergeant course, and the senior leaders, advance leaders, and
 primary leadership courses; and
 WHEREAS, Selected to serve in the 160th Special Operations
 Aviation Regiment, CSM Gonzalez was assigned in 1998 to the 1-160th
 SOAR (Airborne) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; there, he held such
 leadership roles as crew chief, flight platoon sergeant, and first
 sergeant of the Light Attack Helicopter Company and the Aviation
 Maintenance Company; and
 WHEREAS, After graduating from the U.S. Army Sergeants Major
 Academy, CSM Gonzalez was assigned to the 209th Aviation Support
 Battalion as support operations sergeant major for the 25th Combat
 Aviation Brigade; he subsequently served as command sergeant major
 of the 2-6 Cavalry Regiment, Hawaii, and as CSM of the 128th
 Aviation Brigade at Fort Eustis, before assuming the post of
 operations sergeant major for the Noncommissioned Officer
 Professional Development Department, Noncommissioned Officer
 Leadership Center of Excellence; and
 WHEREAS, Gerardo Gonzalez's dedication, professionalism, and
 devotion to duty have greatly benefited his fellow Americans and
 earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may
 indeed reflect with pride on his exemplary record of military
 service; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
 hereby congratulate U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major Gerardo
 Gonzalez on his retirement and extend to him sincere best wishes for
 continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Command Sergeant Major Gonzalez as an expression of
 high regard by the Texas Senate.
