 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort
 those saddened by the death of Stephen Christopher Mitchell of Las
 Cruces, New Mexico, on March 6, 2023, at the age of 54; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Pat and Carolyn Mitchell, Chris Mitchell
 was born on October 15, 1968, in El Paso and grew up sharing in the
 companionship of four siblings, Patrick, Michael, Matthew, and
 Lori; he moved with his family to Wood County in 1977 and graduated
 from Mineola High School in 1987; he continued his education at East
 Texas State University and The University of Texas at El Paso, where
 he met his future wife, Selena Stair; after marrying, the couple
 moved to Ohio, where Mr. Mitchell studied at the University of
 Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of a successful career in theater
 and music, Mr. Mitchell worked with the New York City Opera, opened
 a show at Radio City Music Hall, and served as a stage manager for
 touring Broadway shows and a Cirque du Soleil residency; following
 the events of 9/11, he decided to pursue a career in medicine, and
 he earned a degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at
 Galveston; and
 WHEREAS, Admired for his inquisitive mind, sharp wit, and
 kind and generous nature, Chris Mitchell brightened the world for
 all who knew him, and they will forever hold him close in their
 hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
 hereby pay tribute to the life of Stephen Christopher Mitchell and
 extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
 Selena Stair; to his parents, Pat and Carolyn Mitchell; to his
 brothers, Patrick Mitchell and his wife, Lauren, Michael Mitchell
 and his wife, Donna, and Matthew Mitchell; to his sister, Lori Ray,
 and her husband, Paul; and to his many other relatives and friends;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
 day, it do so in memory of Chris Mitchell.
