No. 635 SENATE RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize globally renowned architect Chao-Chiung Lee in honor of the 40th anniversary of his architectural firm, STOA International Architects, Incorporated; and WHEREAS, Chao-Chiung Lee, the president and founding chief executive officer of STOA International Architects, established the firm in 1983 in Houston; committed to reflecting Houston's ethnic diversity, he collaborates with distinguished architects, designers, engineers, project managers, and consultants from diverse backgrounds whose distinguished expertise and cultural fluency cater to existing clients and attract new business; and WHEREAS, STOA International Architects, which is certified as a historically underutilized business and as a minority business enterprise, has offices in Houston, New York, and Pensacola and Panama City, Florida; the firm's resounding success led to its purchases of the prestigious firms Harry Goleman Architects in 2001 and Amspacher and Amspacher Architects in 2007; STOA's robust portfolio includes aviation facilities, education centers, libraries, maintenance and health care facilities, multi-family housing, multi-purpose service centers, and public park support and hospitality facilities; and WHEREAS, Central to STOA's success is Chao-Chiung Lee's systematic design method, which helps his clients to improve their modern-design and development challenges; and WHEREAS, In addition to managing his internationally acclaimed architectural firm, Chao-Chiung excels as an artist, author, philosopher, teacher, project developer, and feng-shui master who has taught interactive workshops at Rice University and other universities for more than two decades; he is indeed deserving of recognition for his many outstanding achievements in architecture and in the arts and sciences; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th Legislature, hereby commend Chao-Chiung Lee on his contributions to architecture in the Lone Star State and extend to him congratulations on the 40th anniversary of STOA International Architects and best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
