                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 696
 In Memory
 of
 Lauren Gilstrap
 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
 meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the friends and
 family of Dr. Lauren Gray Gilstrap who passed away on October 21,
 2022, at the age of 38; and
 WHEREAS, Lauren Gilstrap was born to Rodney and Sherry
 Gilstrap in Marshall on November 25, 1983, and she grew up with
 the companionship of a brother, Stephen; she graduated as
 valedictorian of her high school class and she received two
 bachelor's degrees from The University of Texas at Austin, where
 she was a Truman Scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa; she went
 on to earn a doctor of medicine degree and a master's degree in
 public health from Harvard University, and she completed an
 internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital,
 as well as fellowships in cardiovascular medicine, heart
 failure, and cardiac transplantation at Brigham and Women's
 Hospital; and
 WHEREAS, In 2018, Dr. Gilstrap moved to Hanover, New
 Hampshire, to join the faculty of the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical
 Center Heart and Vascular Center with a joint appointment in the
 Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice; in
 addition, she was an assistant professor at the Dartmouth College
 Geisel School of Medicine, and in 2021, she became the program
 head for advanced heart disease and transplant cardiology in the
 Heart and Vascular Center; during her time at Dartmouth, she was
 recognized as an outstanding clinician, educator, and mentor for
 students, residents, fellows, and faculty; and
 WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Dr. Gilstrap benefited from
 the love and support of her wife, Janet Milley, and she took great
 pride in her two children, Katelyn and David; in her leisure
 hours, she enjoyed skiing, snowboarding, climbing mountains, and
 traveling with her family and friends; and
 WHEREAS, Lauren Gilstrap embraced life to the fullest, and
 she will forever remain a vibrant presence for those who knew and
 loved her; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. Lauren Gray
 Gilstrap and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her
 passing; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
 this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Lauren Gilstrap.
