No. 74 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Tarleton State University men's rodeo team burnished its legacy of success by winning the overall championship at the 2022 College National Finals Rodeo; and WHEREAS, Competing June 12 through 18 in Casper, Wyoming, Tarleton State racked up 900 points in the contest, besting reserve champion McNeese State University by 120 points; with the victory, the Tarleton men collected the fourth national crown in team history; and WHEREAS, Five Tarleton competitors made the finals, with each placing in the top 10 individually; leading the way was Walt Arnold, who clocked an impressive 3.7-second performance in the fourth and final round to clinch the steer wrestling title with a total time of 16.9 seconds; in saddle bronc riding, Cash Wilson posted a CNFR personal best of 82 points in the last round, claiming reserve champion honors with a total score of 308.5; in addition, steer wrestler Ty Allred and saddle bronc rider Brody Wells each came in fourth place, and tie-down roper Brayden Roe finished in 10th; and WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of head coach Mark Eakin, assistant coaches Casey Sisk and Brittany Stewart, and arena coordinator Dylon Henson, the Tarleton rodeo program has continued its long record of success; the program celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2022, and since its formation in 1947, it has produced eight men's and women's national rodeo championships and 29 individual national titles; and WHEREAS, The talented and hardworking members of the Tarleton State men's rodeo team have realized an exceptional accomplishment with their triumph at the 2022 CNFR, and in so doing, they have earned the admiration of their fellow students and their many supporters in the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Tarleton State University men's rodeo team on its championship performance at the 2022 College National Finals Rodeo and extend to all those associated with the team sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
