 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the
 passing of Rita Lou McCreary on June 6, 2023, at the age of 88; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of Maude and Oscar Green, Rita McCreary
 was born on her family's farm in Fulton, Arkansas, on February 15,
 1935, and she grew up with the companionship of seven siblings,
 Ronald, Inez, Farrell, Taylor, Sue, Janice, and Dixie; after
 graduating from Hope High School, she attended nursing school and
 became a nurse anesthetist; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. McCreary later began working at hospitals in
 Dallas, during which time she met her future husband, Howell; the
 couple went on to share a fulfilling marriage until Mr. McCreary's
 passing in 1999; Mrs. McCreary retired from nursing to raise their
 three children, Martin, Stephanie, and Heather, and with the
 passing years, she had the privilege of seeing her family grow to
 include two grandchildren, Sophie and Stiles; and
 WHEREAS, After settling in Gainesville, Mrs. McCreary became
 highly engaged in her community; she enjoyed gardening with the
 other parishioners at Westminster Presbyterian Church, and she was
 instrumental in procuring a location for the ABBA Women's Center,
 where she also served as a board member and as director; in
 addition, she was a founding member of Cooke County Republican
 Women and often gave of her time as a pollster during elections; her
 contributions to conservative politics were recognized in 1992 and
 again in 1994; and
 WHEREAS, Rita McCreary lived a caring and purposeful life,
 and she will forever be remembered with deep affection by all who
 held her close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 1st
 Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Rita Lou
 McCreary and extend sincere sympathy to all who mourn her passing;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
 day, it do so in memory of Rita McCreary.
