 SENATE RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Etta Mae Crockett, who died on May 7,
 2023, at the age of 68; and
 WHEREAS, Etta Crockett was born on July 6, 1954, to Ince
 and Willie Crockett; a determined student, she graduated from
 George Washington Carver High School in 1972 and went on to earn a
 bachelor's degree in education from Prairie View A&M University;
 and
 WHEREAS, A knowledgeable and gifted teacher, Etta served
 the Aldine Independent School District as an educator for 20
 years; after retiring from teaching, Etta pursued her passion of
 becoming a political consultant and faithfully served her
 community as Harris County Precinct Chair 109; and
 WHEREAS, Noted for her compassion and integrity, Etta was
 a pillar in her community; she served on a number of mayoral,
 congressional, and senatorial campaigns for such politicians as
 Sylvester Turner, mayor of Houston, Senator John Whitmire,
 Senator Borris Miles, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, and
 Congressman Beto O'Rourke; and
 WHEREAS, A woman of faith and a lifelong Democrat, Etta
 enriched the lives of countless people in the city of Houston
 through her contributions to education and her many community
 initiatives, and she was honored on March 29, 2023, by the city
 for her dedication to Houston; and
 WHEREAS, Etta was a source of light to her friends and
 loved ones, and she leaves a legacy of unconditional service for
 the good of all; left to cherish her memory are her beloved
 partner, Ray Jones; her four siblings, Delors Long, Ella Obanion,
 Carl Crockett, and Maurice Crockett; and all who were blessed to
 share in her life; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
 condolences to the bereaved family of Etta Mae Crockett; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Etta Crockett.
