H.R. No. 108 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc., in San Antonio is marking its 20th anniversary in October 2023; and WHEREAS, The company broke ground on the San Antonio plant in 2003 and started production three years later; representing a $4.2 billion investment in the Lone Star State, the plant has assembled over 3 million vehicles in the years since, and it is currently the only manufacturer in the world that produces the Tundra truck and the Sequoia SUV; and WHEREAS, In addition to creating thousands of well-paying jobs, TMMTX has contributed to the community by donating more than $50 million to area nonprofits; over the years, the company has supported various educational initiatives and given generously to such organizations as United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, the San Antonio Food Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas, and El Centro del Barrio; in celebration of its 20th anniversary, the company donated a total of $100,000 to the Institute for School and Community Partnership at Texas A&M University-San Antonio and The 100 Club of San Antonio, which benefits law enforcement and firefighters in Bexar County; and WHEREAS, Businesses that employ Texans and that contribute to the local economy are important components of a prosperous future, and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc., is deserving of recognition for the positive role it has played in the San Antonio community for the past two decades; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc., in San Antonio on its 20th anniversary and extend to all those associated with the plant sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for TMMTX as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
