No. 45 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Jarin Thomas Cole of Killeen on August 2, 2023, at the age of 22, brought an incalculable loss to the family and friends of this beloved young man; and WHEREAS, The son of Darron and Tina Cole, Jarin Cole was born on May 23, 2001; a talented musician from a young age, he played multiple instruments, including the guitar, violin, and keyboard, and he was a skilled vocalist; he was a member of the orchestra and jazz band at Harker Heights High School, where he graduated in 2019, and he went on to play in the jazz band at Temple College until his graduation in 2021; at the time of his passing, he was a senior at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts; and WHEREAS, Known as JC Stringz, Mr. Cole performed with a number of award-winning artists over the years, including the Peterson Brothers, SaulPaul, Damien Escobar, and Daniel D.; sustained by his deep faith, he was a member of the band at the Greater Vision Community Church during his youth, and he later played guitar at the Kingdom Empowerment Center while attending Berklee; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cole spearheaded a variety of community service initiatives, including visits to nursing homes and senior centers, fundraisers to support people in need, and holiday events for children in foster care; he also played an important role in supporting the Food Care Center; and WHEREAS, Although Jarin Cole is greatly missed, his loved ones will forever cherish their memories of his kindness, his exceptional musical ability, and his devotion to his faith and his community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jarin Thomas Cole and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his parents, Darron and Tina Cole; to his grandparents, Oliver and Bernice Cole; to his uncles, Sammie "Juncle" DuBose Jr. and his wife, April, Dana Cole and his wife, Stella, Derrick Cole, and Darryl Cole and his wife, Joy; to his godparents; to his siblings; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jarin Cole.
