No. 7 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the passing of Ramiro Humberto Gamboa Sr. of Corpus Christi on July 6, 2023, at the age of 73; and WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Gambi," Ramiro Gamboa was born in Laredo on July 20, 1949, to Dolores and Antonietta Gamboa, and he grew up with the companionship of four siblings, Javier, Gerardo, Juanita, and Antonia; he graduated from Martin High School in 1968 and subsequently began studies at Mercy Hospital to become an X-ray technician, earning his credentials in 1969; and WHEREAS, Mr. Gamboa enjoyed a lengthy career as a surgical radiology technician at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline that spanned nearly five decades; a highly regarded and passionate champion for civil rights and the education of the Latino community, he gave generously of his time and talents to the League of United Latin American Citizens Council No. 1; he first became involved with the organization in the 1970s, and over the years, he worked tirelessly to defend the rights of Hispanic Americans, joining forces with a number of city, state, and national elected officials and community leaders in order to create social and economic change; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Gamboa enjoyed the love and support of his wife of 54 years, Guadalupe; he was the devoted father of four children, Ramiro, Jessica, Gabriel, and Christopher, and with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his life was further enriched by his beloved dog, Miguel; and WHEREAS, While the death of Ramiro Gamboa brings immeasurable sorrow to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Ramiro Humberto Gamboa Sr. and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ramiro Gamboa.
