 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, First Sergeant Hector A. Sanchez of the United
 States Marine Corps was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major (E9)
 at a ceremony on August 4, 2023; and
 WHEREAS, Previously, Sergeant Major Hector Sanchez served as
 Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant for Company C, 1st Battalion,
 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division of the Marine Corps
 Forces Reserve in Corpus Christi, Texas; he was assigned to the
 Division in April of 2021, and on September 15, 2023, he was
 transferred to the 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment at the Naval
 Reserve Center in Houston, Texas, where he assumed his post as
 Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major, a senior enlisted rank in the
 United States Marines; and
 WHEREAS, Sergeant Major Sanchez joined the U.S. Marine Corps
 in 2004 and was first assigned to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina as
 a military police corrections specialist; in the succeeding years,
 he served in such roles as senior drill instructor and duty brig
 supervisor and was promoted to Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant,
 Gunnery Sergeant, and First Sergeant, and in 2012, he was
 transferred to the 1st Law Enforcement Battalion; he deployed to
 Afghanistan in 2013 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and
 the following year, he reported to the Marine Security Guard School
 in Quantico, Virginia, where he distinguished himself as an honor
 graduate and high shooter; and
 WHEREAS, After serving as the capital Detachment Commander
 for U.S. consulates in China and Mexico, Sergeant Major Sanchez was
 named senior corrections counselor at Camp Pendleton, California;
 in 2020, he assumed the duties of an Alpha Company First Sergeant,
 preparing his unit for the Southwest Border Mission, and he
 recently helped oversee the mobilization of the 1st Battalion, 23rd
 Marine Regiment in support of Operation Allies Welcome; his awards
 include the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and
 Achievement Medal; actively engaged in his community, he has been
 involved with Toys for Tots in Nueces County, among numerous other
 initiatives; and
 WHEREAS, The exceptional leadership demonstrated by Sergeant
 Major Hector Sanchez has greatly benefited the U.S. Marine Corps
 and Company C, and he may indeed reflect with pride on all that he
 has accomplished as he takes on the challenges and opportunities of
 his new rank and assignment; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Hector
 A. Sanchez on his promotion to Sergeant Major in the U.S. Marine
 Corps and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in
 his important work and service to country; Semper Fi!; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Sergeant Major Sanchez as an expression of high regard
 by the Texas House of Representatives.
