 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The girls' cross country team of McAllen High School
 ended a memorable season by participating in the 2023 University
 Interscholastic League Cross Country State Championships at Old
 Settlers Park in Round Rock on November 3; and
 WHEREAS, Joining other top high school competitors from
 across Texas at the state meet, the McAllen High team included seven
 runners: Dana Rojas Vazquez, Kenzi Ramirez, Daira Rojas Vazquez,
 Aillen Rivera, Samara Gully, Ava Barreda, and Rebecca Morgan; and
 WHEREAS, The first McAllen High School team to reach the
 state competition in 26 years, the 2023 Bulldogs posted a combined
 time of 1 hour, 39 minutes, 3.9 seconds, while negotiating the
 challenging course, and they claimed ninth place in the Class 5A
 team standings; and
 WHEREAS, By earning the right to compete in the state's
 premier showcase for high school cross country runners, these
 dedicated athletes have ably represented their school and
 community, and they may indeed reflect with pride on their
 accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the members of
 the McAllen High School girls' cross country team on their
 participation in the 2023 UIL Cross Country State Championships and
 extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
