A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to expedited driver's license office appointments for
active duty members of the United States armed forces.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 521.002, Transportation Code, is amended
to read as follows:
Sec. 521.002. CONVENIENCE TO PUBLIC. (a) The department
shall implement its duties under this chapter in the manner that
provides the greatest convenience to the public.
(b) The department by rule shall establish a system to
provide each person who is on active duty in the United States armed
forces the opportunity to receive an expedited same-day appointment
at a driver's license office on a walk-in basis.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
