A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the establishment of a memorial monument dedicated to
unborn children on the Capitol grounds.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 443, Government Code, is amended by
adding Section 443.01528 to read as follows:
Sec. 443.01528. MEMORIAL MONUMENT FOR UNBORN CHILDREN. The
State Preservation Board may approve and establish a memorial
monument on the State Capitol grounds dedicated to unborn children.
The State Preservation Board may use only private contributions
made for a purpose related to the memorial monument to create,
establish, and permanently maintain the monument.
SECTION 2. Section 443.0152(a-1), Government Code, is
amended to read as follows:
(a-1) Except as provided by Sections 443.01525, [and]
443.01526, and 443.01528, after September 1, 2009, no additional
monuments may be placed on the historic grounds of the Capitol.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
