                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 89TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             April 6, 2025       TO: Honorable Brad Buckley, Chair, House Committee on Public Education     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB1290 by Harris Davila (Relating to prohibiting certain food additives from being included in free or reduced-price meals provided by school districts.), As Introduced     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.  Local Government ImpactDistricts and open-enrollment charter schools may need to source alternative ingredients that do not contain the prohibited additives and train staff on the new food safety and compliance requirements. There may be costs to districts related to making these changes, but costs would vary.
