A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the payment of a fee for the administration of a special
education or bilingual education certificate examination.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 21, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 21.04892 to read as follows:
Sec. 21.04892. FEES FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION OR BILINGUAL
EDUCATION CERTIFICATE EXAMINATIONS. For each person who takes an
examination prescribed under Section 21.048 for certification to
teach in special education or bilingual education, including
certification under Section 21.04891, the board shall, as
applicable:
(1) waive any fee assessed by the board for the
administration of the examination; and
(2) pay on behalf of the person to the vendor who
administers the examination any fee assessed by the vendor to the
person for the administration of the examination.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
