Smithee, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB1414 by Allen (Relating to the punishment for the offense of driving while license invalid.), As Introduced     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would reduce the punishment for certain Class B misdemeanor behaviors constituting the offense of driving while license invalid to Class C misdemeanor punishment, and would make any other behaviors constituting the offense, except Class C behaviors, ineligible for law enforcement cite and release practices.It is assumed that any fiscal impact and any impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources would not be significant.  Local Government ImpactIt is assumed that any fiscal impact to units of local government associated with enforcement, prosecution, supervision, or confinement would not be significant.
