                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 89TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             April 2, 2025       TO: Honorable Morgan Meyer, Chair, House Committee on Ways & Means     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB1745 by Bell, Keith (Relating to the procedure for protests before appraisal review boards.), As Introduced     No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would require the appraisal review board to schedule a hearing on a protest no later than October 1 if the notice of protest is filed between March 1 and June 30; or no later than 90 days after the date of the notice of protest is filed before March 1 or after June 30.The bill would also require the chief appraiser, at least 14 days before a hearing on a protest, to provide the property owner with a brief summary of the reason for changing the value of the owner's property from the preceding tax year, if the value was changed.  Local Government ImpactNo significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
