                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 89TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             April 22, 2025       TO: Honorable Cole Hefner, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security, Public Safety & Veterans' Affairs     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB2609 by Bernal (Relating to prohibiting the denial of a driver's license renewal for failure to appear in court, failure to pay a fine or cost, or failure to satisfy a judgment.), As Introduced     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend certain provisions related to the allocation of fees to the transportation administrative fee account related to certain denials of driver's license renewals for failure to appear. According to the Comptroller, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated. According to the Department of Public Safety, there may be a cost savings associated with implementing the provisions of the bill; however, it is assumed that any revenue implications associated with the bill would not have a significant fiscal impact.   Local Government ImpactNo significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
