The bill would amend Family Code to allow a child who is 10 years or older to file a petition requesting a change of the child's name and would require the court appoint an attorney ad litem to represent the child.According to the Office of Court Administration, the extent to which case filings may increase is unknown.   Local Government ImpactThere could be an impact to units of local government to provide ad litem representation that cannot be determined at this time.
