 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Patricia Thompson celebrated a joyous milestone in
 her life on October 26, 2024, when she became a naturalized citizen
 of the United States of America; and
 WHEREAS, "Trish" Thompson arrived in the U.S. from Canada as
 an employee of the Dow Chemical Company in 2006, and she soon fell
 in love with Texas and especially Brazoria County; within a few
 weeks, she had become enamored with the natural beauty and sense of
 community found on the Texas coast, and she went on to develop many
 close friendships among her new neighbors; and
 WHEREAS, While in Texas, she met her future husband, Jeffery
 Thompson; the pair exchanged wedding vows in 2012, and she has
 happily embraced her role as a stepmother to his two daughters; in
 2018, she accepted a position with MEGlobal, which allowed her to
 support the company's operations in both Canada and the United
 States, her adopted country; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Thompson began the process of applying for U.S.
 citizenship in 2023 and completed her civics test on September 20,
 2024, just five days before her birthday; she became a naturalized
 citizen on October 26 of that year, and she is being recognized for
 this achievement on the occasion of Brazoria County Day at the State
 Capitol on February 25, 2025; and
 WHEREAS, A proud Texan by choice, Trish Thompson has made a
 new life for herself as an American citizen and a valued member of
 the Brazoria County community, and it is a pleasure to join in
 honoring her for all that she has accomplished; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Patricia Thompson on becoming a
 naturalized citizen of the United States of America and extend to
 her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in the
 years to come; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mrs. Thompson as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
