 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Legendary performer Beyoncé won three awards at the
 67th annual Grammy Awards on February 2, 2025, bringing her total
 number of Grammys to 35, the most ever received by any artist; and
 WHEREAS, During the awards ceremony held in Los Angeles,
 Beyoncé won Grammys for both album of the year and country album of
 the year for Cowboy Carter, making her the first Black woman to take
 home the album of the year honor since 1999 and the first Black
 artist to ever receive the country album of the year accolade; in
 addition, her collaboration with Miley Cyrus on the song "II Most
 Wanted" won the Grammy for best country duo/group performance; and
 WHEREAS, A Houston native, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter earned her
 first Grammy nominations at the age of 17, when she was still a
 member of Destiny's Child, which was nominated in two categories at
 the Grammys in 1999; the following year, the group won two awards
 with their hit song, "Say My Name," and they won another Grammy in
 2001 with their song "Survivor"; and
 WHEREAS, Beyoncé went solo in 2003 with her album Dangerously
 in Love, which earned her five Grammys at the 46th annual awards
 ceremony, including best contemporary R&B album, best female R&B
 vocal performance, best R&B performance by a duo or group with
 vocals, best R&B song, and best rap/sung collaboration; she won
 another Grammy with Destiny's Child in 2005, and in 2006, her second
 solo album, B'Day, took the award for best contemporary R&B album;
 and
 WHEREAS, Since then, Queen Bey, as she is known to her fans,
 has received at least one nomination nearly every year and usually
 several, and she has won multiple awards in many different
 categories; at the 2009 Grammys, she won six awards, including song
 of the year for her blockbuster hit "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on
 It)" and best contemporary R&B album for her groundbreaking double
 album, I Am... Sasha Fierce; in 2016, she took home two awards,
 including best urban contemporary album for Lemonade and best music
 video for "Formation"; she made history in 2023, when she won for
 best dance/electronic album for Renaissance, putting her Grammy
 total at 32, the most of all time; her achievements in 2025 have
 furthered her unprecedented Grammy success, bringing her totals to
 a remarkable 99 Grammy nominations and 35 wins; and
 WHEREAS, A generational talent, Beyoncé has proven herself to
 be one of the most accomplished entertainers in the history of
 popular music, and she is a source of tremendous pride to her fellow
 Texans; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Beyoncé for winning the album of
 the year, country album of the year, and best country duo/group
 performance honors at the 2025 Grammy Awards and extend to her
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Beyoncé as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
