No. 323 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Honorable Rose Guerra Reyna is retiring as judge of the 206th District Court on December 31, 2026, concluding her tenure as the longest-serving woman in that role; and WHEREAS, Rose Reyna first took office as judge of the 206th District Court in 1999, and she has since presided over numerous civil, family, felony, and juvenile cases for the court, which serves Hidalgo County; and WHEREAS, A native of the Rio Grande Valley, Judge Reyna earned her bachelor's degree from Pan American University and her juris doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law; she began her career in private practice, working for the Law Offices of Ramon Garcia before moving to Skaggs, Reyna & Garza, L.L.P., where she was a partner for 11 years; and WHEREAS, Judge Reyna has contributed to her professional community as a member of several statewide task forces, as a multidistrict litigation judge, and as presiding judge of the Hidalgo County Re-entry Court; in addition, she has been involved in various nonprofit organizations, and she has received numerous accolades in recognition of her efforts, including the 2010 Texas Center Professionalism Award from the Hidalgo County Bar Association and the Texas Center for Legal Ethics; in all her endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her sons, Josh and Anthony Reyna; and WHEREAS, For more than a quarter century, Judge Reyna's dedication, expertise, and commitment to justice have greatly benefited citizens across the Lone Star State, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her many achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Rose Guerra Reyna on her retirement from the 206th District Court and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Judge Reyna as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
