No. 432 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Woodlands marked the 50th anniversary of its founding in October 2024; and WHEREAS, Established by visionary oil and business magnate George P. Mitchell in 1974, The Woodlands has grown into a nationally recognized master-planned community; with its natural beauty, urban conveniences, and robust business climate, the city offers an exceptional living and working environment to a diverse and dynamic population of more than 120,000 residents; and WHEREAS, Known for its high quality of life and its dedication to environmental preservation and economic vitality, The Woodlands was ranked by Niche.com as the second-best city to live and the second-best city to raise a family in the United States in 2024, and it also topped that publication's list of the best cities in which to purchase a home; and WHEREAS, The Woodlands has established itself as a premier economic hub, attracting businesses and fostering innovation while maintaining an emphasis on responsible development and community engagement; its amenities include a variety of cultural, educational, and recreational offerings that enrich the lives of residents and visitors alike, and its ongoing investments in public safety, infrastructure, and education have furthered its reputation as a model for municipalities across the nation; and WHEREAS, The citizens and the business and community leaders of The Woodlands have demonstrated a shared commitment to the continued well-being and prosperity of their vibrant city, and they may indeed take pride in the work they have done to make the community such a treasured asset to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Woodlands and pay tribute to the city's outstanding record of excellence for the past half-century; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the leaders and residents of The Woodlands as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
