H.R. No. 451 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, For nearly three decades, the Missouri City Mayor's Youth Commission has provided promising young people with the opportunity to take a more active role in shaping their community; and WHEREAS, The Missouri City Mayor's Youth Commission (MYC) was established in 1996 as a means of fostering leadership skills, personal growth, and a sense of civic responsibility among area youth; individuals are selected for the program based on their leadership potential and their commitment to serving others and cultivating positive change; and WHEREAS, Members of the MYC are offered the chance to interact with city officials and voice their opinions, helping ensure that the perspectives of younger generations are given consideration in the local decision-making process; they attend workshops and meetings that are designed to hone their communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, and they work together on various projects that promote service and volunteerism and address the needs of area residents; all members are expected to demonstrate good character in their daily lives and to strive to set a positive example for their peers; and WHEREAS, The Missouri City Mayor's Youth Commission is strengthening the community by helping to develop the public servants and civic leaders of tomorrow, and the bright young men and women who are part of the commission may indeed take pride in their involvement in this worthwhile endeavor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby honor the Missouri City Mayor's Youth Commission and commend the members of the organization for their exceptional dedication and initiative; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the MYC as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
