H.R. No. 66 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the passing of Anthony Dale Dunn of Killeen on January 1, 2025, at the age of 76; and WHEREAS, The son of Jack Dunn and Marie Dunn Pyburn, Tony Dunn was born in Belton on September 29, 1948, and he grew up with the companionship of two siblings, Cheryle and Jackie; after graduating from Killeen High School in 1967, he earned a bachelor's degree in health and sports medicine from Howard Payne University; and WHEREAS, In May 1970, Mr. Dunn married the love of his life, the former Karen Yarnell, and the couple went on to share a rewarding union that spanned more than half a century; they were blessed with two children, Dawn and Toby, and with the passing years, their treasured family grew to include four grandchildren, Hallie, Jesica, Kaitlyn, and Andrew; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dunn embarked on his career as head athletic trainer at Snyder High School in 1971, and in 1977, he moved back to Killeen to operate Shine and Dunn Tire Service alongside his father; he eventually returned to education as head athletic trainer at Ellison High School in the Killeen Independent School District, and he retired in 2010 after three decades of distinguished service; following his retirement, he began working at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home; and WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Dunn gave generously of his time and talents to a number of organizations over the years, including the Killeen Junior Livestock Association and the American Red Cross, and he served in the Killeen Volunteer Fire Department for more than two decades, rising to the rank of lieutenant; moreover, he was a valued member of First Baptist Church Killeen, where he served as a deacon and as a member of numerous committees; among his many accolades, he was named Killeen VFD Fire Fighter of the Year in 1983 and was inducted as the 2018 Comanche Gap Medicine Man; and WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his faith, and his community, Tony Dunn earned the lasting respect and admiration of all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Anthony Dale Dunn and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tony Dunn.
