R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Original Donut Shop has been featured in "The
Best Breakfast Tacos in San Antonio" list by Bon Appétit; and
WHEREAS, Located on Fredericksburg Road, the restaurant was
founded by Patrick Morris in 1954 under the name Hot Donuts, and it
quickly gained popularity; during the early 1980s, the
establishment built a kitchen, began serving breakfast tacos and
Mexican food, and adopted its current name; it later added
drive-thru lanes to keep up with demand; and
WHEREAS, Today, the family-owned restaurant is a staple of
the local dining scene, and it has earned the loyalty of residents
and visitors alike with its welcoming atmosphere and distinctive
menu featuring breakfast tacos and donuts; in addition, the
establishment was highlighted in a Netflix series called Taco
Chronicles; and
WHEREAS, Locally owned and operated restaurants add to the
prosperity and culinary diversity of the Lone Star State, and all
those associated with the Original Donut Shop may take great pride
in the high regard it has enjoyed in the San Antonio community for
more than seven decades; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Original Donut Shop on being
featured in "The Best Breakfast Tacos in San Antonio" list by Bon
Appétit and extend to all those affiliated with the establishment
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the restaurant as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
