                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 89TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             April 7, 2025       TO: Honorable Pete Flores, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: SB1506 by Parker (Relating to the frequency with which the Board of Pardons and Paroles reconsiders inmates for release on parole.), As Introduced     The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined due to the lack of data to determine the frequency with which the Board of Pardons and Paroles might exercise the option under the bill's provisions to extend individuals' time until a subsequent reconsideration. The bill would modify the frequency with which Board of Pardons and Paroles may reconsider an individual for release on parole. It removes the reconsideration period of one year while maintaining the one-to-five-year and one-to-ten-year periods. The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined due to the lack of data to determine the frequency with which the Board of Pardons and Paroles might exercise the option under the bill's provisions to extend individuals' time until a subsequent reconsideration.
