                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 89TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             April 28, 2025       TO: Honorable Pete Flores, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: SB1573 by Birdwell (Relating to a limitation on the use of certain unsubstantiated information relating to peace officer misconduct.), As Introduced     The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined due to an unknown number of petition filings resulting from the bill. The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to prohibit law enforcement agencies from disclosing information relating to allegations of peace officer misconduct that have not been finally adjudicated. The bill would also permit peace officers to petition a district court following a determination of conduct. According to the Office of Court Administration, the fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined due to the number of additional petition filings resulting from the provisions of the bill being unknown.
