The bill would make an exception to the application of the offense of deadly conduct if the actor at the time of the offense was engaged in the actual discharge of official duties as a peace officer and if the actor reasonably believed the conduct was necessary for self-defense or defense of a third person. It is assumed that any fiscal impact and any impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources would not be significant.    Local Government ImpactIt is assumed that any fiscal impact to units of local government associated with enforcement, prosecution, supervision, or confinement would not be significant.
