                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 89TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             April 1, 2025       TO: Honorable Brandon Creighton, Chair, Senate Committee on Education K-16     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: SB1878 by Schwertner (Relating to the Polytechnic College at Sam Houston State University, including the college's eligibility to participate in certain programs.), As Introduced     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would allow the Polytechnic College at Sam Houston State University to be eligible for formula funding in the same manner as a public state college and for students that attend the college to be eligible for the Texas Educational Opportunity Grant Program. The Texas State University System indicates that there are no students currently enrolled in the program and that the college is initially planning on 3 small programs. While no significant fiscal impact to the state is anticipated during the 2026-27 biennium, any future fiscal impact would be dependent on future enrollment in the college's programs and any related formula funding as well as the number of enrolled students being eligible for the Texas Educational Opportunity Grant program.
