 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
relating to notice of certain misconduct committed by a public
 school educator.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 21, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 21.0063 to read as follows:
Sec. 21.0063. NOTICE OF CERTAIN EDUCATOR MISCONDUCT.
 (a) If, after investigation by a school district or open-enrollment
charter school, there is reason to believe that a district or school
educator engaged in misconduct described by Section
21.006(b)(2)(A-1) with a student enrolled at the district or
school, the district or school shall provide written notice of the
misconduct to each parent or guardian of a student enrolled in the
 district or school.
 (b) The notice required by Subsection (a):
 (1) subject to Subdivision (2), must be provided by
 mail; and
 (2) may be provided by e-mail if the board of trustees
of the school district or the governing body of the open-enrollment
charter school determines that providing the notice by mail would
 be too expensive.
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026
 school year.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
