A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to online law enforcement reporting systems maintained or
operated by or on behalf of a municipality or county.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 370, Local Government Code, is amended
by adding Section 370.010 to read as follows:
Sec. 370.010. ONLINE LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTING SYSTEM. A
municipality or county that maintains or operates or contracts with
a third party to maintain or operate an online law enforcement
reporting system to electronically record, store, manage, and
analyze law enforcement reports must provide a person who submitted
a law enforcement report through the system a reasonable
opportunity to cure any defects in the report before issuing a
denial.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
