The bill would add certain restrictions and requirements on transporters of fuels and other hazardous materials. It would require motor fuel transporters to ensure that its employees or contractors hold specific licenses, imposing a civil penalty of $25,000 for failure to comply.The bill would prohibit motor fuel depots in border counties, imposing criminal penalties ranging from a Class A misdemeanor to a second-degree felony, and additional civil penalties of up to $25,000 for each day a motor fuel depot operates in violation of the chapter.The bill would prohibit a person from operating or moving certain overweight vehicles transporting hazardous materials on a non-designated route, imposing a second-degree felony for a violation.While it is assumed that any state revenue impact would not be significant, it would be dependent on the number of offenses committed and the associated court costs.
