Click here to see the committee vote A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT relating to authorizing certain municipalities to change the date on which their general election for officers is held. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 41.0052, Election Code, is amended by adding Subsection (a-3) to read as follows: (a-3) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), a municipality on the Texas-Mexico border with a population of more than 85,000 that hosts the annual Texas Citrus Fiesta and holds its general election for officers on a date other than the November uniform election date may change the date on which it holds its general election for officers to the November uniform election date. A municipality described by this subsection that changes the date of its election under this subsection may not change the date on which it holds its general election for officers to a date other than the November uniform election date.
