No. 25 By: West SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The life of Sergio Ivan Rodriguez was tragically cut short on December 9, 2024, at the tender age of 15 in his hometown of Houston, Texas; though his time was brief, Sergio left an indelible mark on his family, friends, and community; and it is indeed fitting to name a pedestrian bridge in his memory; and WHEREAS, Born on March 2, 2009, Sergio was known for his infectious sense of humor and his ability to bring joy to those around him; a dedicated 10th-grade student at Charles H. Milby High School, he was passionate about football and was admired for his talent on the field, where he poured his heart into the game he loved; and WHEREAS, Sergio's enthusiasm extended beyond sports; he cherished time spent with his family and friends, bonding over shared interests such as movies, video games, and wings, his favorite food; he had a special affection for his cats, Chana and Rambo, and his love for animals further exemplified his kind and compassionate spirit; and WHEREAS, To honor the memory of Sergio Ivan Rodriguez and recognize the joy and inspiration he brought to those around him, it is fitting to commemorate his life in a way that reflects his enduring spirit and love for his community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby urge the Houston City Council to construct the Sergio Ivan Rodriguez Memorial Pedestrian Bridge over the railroad tracks near Charles H. Milby High School in honor of Sergio Ivan Rodriguez, ensuring that his legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and his community will be remembered for generations to come; and, be it further RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official copy of this resolution to the Houston City Council. * * * * *
