 SENATE RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Waco in mourning the loss of John Eric "J. J." Joe,
 who died February 25, 2025, at the age of 54; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Arlington on November 14, 1970, John Eric
 Joe excelled in academics and football as a student at Lamar High
 School, and his uncompromising work ethic, uplifting spirit and
 charismatic personality helped to pave his path to success as a
 college athlete and in his future career in sports broadcasting;
 and
 WHEREAS, J. J. joined the Baylor University football team
 in 1990 and quickly gained acclaim for his talent as the team's
 starting quarterback; during his four years on the team, he was a
 three-time Academic All-American player, and he set records for
 passing, completions, touchdown passes, and offensive yards that
 still rank him among the top 10 in Baylor University history; he
 was inducted into the Baylor Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006; and
 WHEREAS, His dedication to the sport and to the university
 earned him a position with the Baylor football radio broadcast
 team in 2004, and he found much fulfillment in his role as a color
 analyst for 21 seasons; through his broadcasting and his
 community involvement, he shared his passion for football with
 countless supporters and made a positive impact in the lives of
 many young athletes; and
 WHEREAS, Above all, he cherished spending time with his
 wife, Lakeesha, and his many loved ones; he was blessed with
 three sons, Jordan, Josh, and Jacob, who were each a source of
 pride and joy to him and enriched his life immeasurably; and
 WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
 gave unselfishly to others, and his determination, warmth, and
 infectious sense of humor will be forever cherished by his loving
 family, the Baylor community, and by all who were privileged to
 share in his life; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of John Eric Joe; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of J. J. Joe.
