SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 314
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps
and to join in celebrating March 21 through 26, 2025, as Marine
Week Austin; and
WHEREAS, The United States Marine Corps is marking its
250th anniversary on November 10, 2025, and will honor the legacy
of support and fidelity between the United States and the Marine
Corps in a series of community events and ceremonies throughout
the year; and
WHEREAS, Since 1775, Marines from across the country and
all walks of life have volunteered to serve their nation with
distinction, and these devoted servicemen and women have
faithfully embodied the Marines' uncompromising standards of
honor, courage, and commitment; and
WHEREAS, The United States Marines carry a legacy of
battlefield heroism, relentless pursuit of victory, and the
fighting spirit that guided them through Iwo Jima, the Chosin
Reservoir, Vietnam, and Helmand Province; they are an elite and
vital military force fueled by a long and proud heritage of
devoted service to the nation and driven by the resolve to face
tomorrow's challenges; and
WHEREAS, The Marine Corps is the premier naval
expeditionary force in readiness with nearly 38,000 Marines
deployed around the globe as members of a professional,
disciplined, and capable national force; at the conclusion of
their military service, Marines return home having selflessly
contributed to a cause greater than themselves, and they continue
to uphold the Marine Corps' fundamental values as engaged
citizens who work to strengthen and improve their communities;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to all members of the United
States Marine Corps, honor their 250-year legacy of steadfast
dedication to the defense of freedom, and join them in
celebrating March 21 through 26, 2025, as Marine Week Austin;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this special occasion.
