No. 330 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Texas Retired Teachers Association Day at the State Capitol is taking place on March 26, 2025, providing a fitting opportunity to honor the organization's executive director, Tim Lee, for his 21 years of collaboration with the Texas Legislature; and WHEREAS, Mr. Lee took the helm of TRTA in 2004, and under his able guidance, the organization has helped to enhance benefits for members of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas; over the course of his tenure, he has tirelessly advocated for protecting the system's defined benefit pension plan, and he has worked with the Texas Legislature to develop a pension trust fund, reduce health care costs, and issue cost-of-living adjustments as well as supplemental checks; at the federal level, he played an instrumental role in supporting the Social Security Fairness Act, H.R. 82, which repealed the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset; he also authors TRTA's email newsletter, The Inside Line, and he is a featured writer for the organization's quarterly publication, The VOICE; and WHEREAS, A former executive director of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Mr. Lee draws on more than a quarter century of experience with public pension policy; he has served on a number of state legislative panels and gubernatorial commissions, and he has participated in forums with legislative leaders; renowned as a passionate speaker and energetic leader, he has attended numerous professional conferences; he is a graduate of Illinois State University; and WHEREAS, Over the past 21 years, Tim Lee has distinguished himself as a dedicated champion for Texas educators, and his accomplishments have earned the deep admiration and appreciation of his colleagues and fellow citizens alike; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Tim Lee on his 21st anniversary of working with the Texas Legislature and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Lee as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
