 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System, a network of
 medical centers serving residents of East Texas, is celebrating its
 90th anniversary in 2025; and
 WHEREAS, In 1935, Gregg Memorial Hospital opened its doors to
 the Longview community, which was seeing substantial growth amid
 the East Texas oil boom; the initial 47-bed hospital has since
 evolved into an expansive regional hospital and health system with
 40 clinics, 12 outpatient centers, 5 emergency care centers, and 3
 inpatient facilities; the largest employer in Gregg County, it
 boasts a team of more than 3,000 top-tier physicians and staff
 members, who are committed to offering integrated, high-quality
 patient care; and
 WHEREAS, As a faith-based organization, CHRISTUS Good
 Shepherd Health System fulfills its charitable mission by serving
 those who cannot afford treatment; during the 2024 fiscal year,
 CHRISTUS Good Shepherd provided over $35.5 million in free and
 reduced-cost care and further invested close to $4 million in
 efforts to address community health priorities, such as heart
 disease, diabetes, obesity, primary care access, behavioral
 health, and food insecurity; in addition, it awarded grants
 totaling more than $300,000 to support partners that specialize in
 addiction recovery, bilingual preschool programs, and other
 initiatives, and it also employs athletic trainers who share their
 expertise with dozens of area schools; and
 WHEREAS, Looking to the future, CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health
 System is set to introduce a comprehensive cardiovascular program
 and to open a state-of-the-art cancer treatment center; these
 endeavors are expected to help attract new physicians to the area,
 further enriching the level of care accessible to local residents;
 and
 WHEREAS, CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System has been a
 trusted resource to the communities it serves for nearly a century,
 and those who continue to carry forth its legacy of skill,
 dedication, and compassion are indeed worthy of recognition; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
 hereby honor CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System on the occasion
 of its 90th anniversary and extend to all those affiliated with the
 system sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System as an expression
 of high regard by the Texas Senate.
