 SENATE RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 join the civic and business leaders of the Coastal Bend in
 celebrating February 12, 2025, as Coastal Bend Day at the
 Capitol; and
 WHEREAS, The Coastal Bend community annually offers more
 than 10 million travelers a unique opportunity to experience its
 vibrant culture and natural beauty; these visitors bring
 significant economic support to the region, infuse the City of
 Corpus Christi and surrounding areas with over a billion dollars
 annually, and sustain thousands of jobs; and
 WHEREAS, The Coastal Bend has a rich history and is
 recognized as Texas' only World War II heritage site by the
 National Park Service; this designation honors Naval Air Station
 Corpus Christi, where a training program was held that trained
 more than 35,000 naval aviators who greatly contributed to the
 success of the war effort, and the site continues to inspire
 belief in the value of service and dedication; and
 WHEREAS, The region's many attractions, including Padre
 Island National Seashore, the Texas State Aquarium, the USS
 Lexington aircraft carrier, and a variety of youth and amateur
 sporting events, provide resources for families to come
 together, build lasting memories, and appreciate the natural and
 cultural wealth of the area; and
 WHEREAS, Corpus Christi is the eighth-largest city in
 Texas, and it will soon be home to the state's first municipally
 owned seawater desalination facility; The Port of Corpus Christi
 is a vital economic engine that brings opportunity to the Coastal
 Bend region and supports significant change and growth for Texas
 and the nation; and
 WHEREAS, Educational institutions including Texas A&M
 University--Corpus Christi, Del Mar Community College, Coastal
 Bend College, and the Corpus Christi Independent School District
 provide access to knowledge and training to prepare students for
 the future while fostering an understanding of the important role
 they play in the community; and
 WHEREAS, The residents of the Coastal Bend work together
 to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all and bring
 their shared vision to life through collaboration, community
 involvement, and the appreciation of their shared home; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
 Legislature, hereby recognize February 12, 2025, as Coastal Bend
 Day at the State Capitol and extend to the region's delegation
 sincere best wishes for a memorable and enjoyable event; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
 honor of this special occasion.
